Probabilistic multi-scale design of 2D plain woven composites considering meso-scale uncertainties

This paper presents a novel multi-scale design strategy for 2D plain woven composites considering the manufacturing process. The methodology integrates meso-structural geometry of fabric to maximise buckling load composite stiffened panels at macro-level. A numerical model simulate autoclave process is developed, in which new geometric modelling method proposed construct more realistic RVE accounting compaction effects. Deterministic and robust optimisations are conducted find solutions with both high performances robustness uncertainties.
